National Mirror Data
In the OEC, we ensure the completeness and accuracy of our datasets by utilizing Mirror Data. Mirror data is a technique used to reconstruct the trade profile of a country by using the reports of its trading partners. This applies to countries that do not have their own national dataset in our platform.
How It Works
When primary data is unavailable, our algorithms use "mirror" reports from trading partners with high statistical reliability to estimate trade flows at the product level (HS codes). This ensures the Economic Complexity Index (ECI) and other metrics remain consistent even when official sources are missing.
This feature requires a Premium subscription. To request mirror data for a country, select your country of interest from the dropdown menu above and click the "Request Mirror Data" button to submit your request. You will receive an immediate confirmation email acknowledging your submission. Within 24 hours, you will receive a follow-up email with a download link to access the complete mirror data file for your selected country.
